June 15 is Global Wind Day, celebrating wind energy, its power and the possibilities it holds in green energy systems and boosting job growth. This year Global Wind Day happens to fall on a Wednesday, so our friends at the Sandler Center and YNot Pizza are hosting a special WINDSday event: the fabulous Brasswind band!

Brasswind brings back the classic horn-focused sound of classic bands such as Chicago, Earth, Wind & Fire, James Brown, The Temptations….and so much more. “Entertaining the mass with all that brass” is a slogan that pretty much sums up the experience. This free concert is outside at the Sandler Center Plaza at the Town Center in Virginia Beach and open to the public from 5-9 pm. Food from Ynot Italian, soft drinks and adult beverages will be available for purchase. All proceeds from food and beverage sales will benefit the Sandler Center Foundation.

This event also includes raffles, and you can meet Jake Holston of the Virginia Beach Envi Studies Program and check out his self-created (and fully functioning) solar panel.

WINDSdays is a regional movement of local citizens building a culture around clean energy, a green environment and the power of wind—inspired by a pair of large offshore wind projects off the coasts of Virginia Beach and Kitty Hawk, NC. Support local and shop the Eco-Market, learn what the City of Virginia Beach is doing to harness wind energy and enjoy some dynamic live music.
