Beginning Friday, September 27, 2024, through Thursday, October 3, 2024, the second annual Flavors of the Philippines will take place, offering special menu items from participating restaurants in Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, and Suffolk. This week-long event will celebrate Filipino cuisine and culture, highlighting the culinary artists behind these delicious offerings.
Created as a lead-in to the 10th annual FilFest USA, being held at Festival Park in Portsmouth, Flavors of the Philippines ensures that local restaurants can participate in the cultural festivities. Recognizing the challenges faced by restaurant businesses in joining remote events, organizers developed this initiative to bring them into the fold and allow the community to taste the vibrant flavors of the Philippines.
Flavors of the Philippines is more than just a dining experience. It is a cultural celebration of Filipino history, traditions, and cuisine in the Coastal Virginia area. Participating restaurants will spotlight their unique dishes while sharing the stories behind their culinary creations. The event promises to introduce new customers to these restaurants while offering long-time patrons a deeper connection through cultural storytelling.
The organizers look forward to this being the first of many annual celebrations that showcase the rich heritage of the Filipino community in the region.
