FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (November 18, 2024) — The ViBe Creative District nonprofit will host the 9th Annual Small Business Saturday pop up marketplace event on Saturday, November 30th from 10am to 3pm in ViBe Park and at dozens of storefronts throughout the district. This annual event has grown to include more than 100 small businesses with pop-up vendors from Chesapeake, Norfolk and Virginia Beach.
“Visitors this year can expect to see 100 small businesses represented in the ViBe Creative Disrtrict—along with a strolling Santa, live music, food trucks and the legendary neighborhood scavenger hunt. People tell me that Small Business Saturday is a must-see attraction in our region. Last year, many of our pop-up vendors sold out of their merchandise before the end of the day, which show a strong level of support from our community.”
Shop Small is a year-round effort that encourages people to support local businesses and communities, with a special focus on Small Business Saturday. Founded by American Express in 2010, Small Business Saturday has become a nationwide celebration of small businesses. In 2023 alone, U.S. consumers who shopped at independent retailers and restaurants on Small Business Saturday spent an estimated $17 billion.
Originally started in 2016 in VIBe by 1701 coworking before evolving into a large neighborhood-wide celebration in the central beach area of the Virginia Beach resort, ViBe’s Small Business Saturday event has grown every year to include live music, food trucks, a strolling Santa and various pop-ups. This year, 100+ small businesses are participating at storefronts and pop-up markets by offering specials, discounts and other incentives to encourage buyers to shop small this holiday season. The ViBe Creative District organizes a neighborhood scavenger hunt where one winner takes all with a grand prize of 54 items totaling over $1,600 in value. Small businesses have donated jewelry, art, clothing, body and bath products, ornaments, stickers and more. The lucky winner will be announced by Dec 3rd, 2024 via ViBe’s website and social media.
SCAVENGER HUNT WITH A GRAND PRIZE WORTH $1,600+
Visitors to Small Business Saturday in the ViBe can stop in 15 or more participating businesses to enter to win the grand prize containing gift cards, original art, apparel, food items and more from all small local businesses in the ViBe and pop-up vendors. Guests can download the scavenger hunt form online at ViBeCreativeDistrict.org or pick up paper copies in person in ViBe Park from 10am to 3pm at the ViBe Creative District tent. Submissions can be submitted digitally online, or paper copies delivered to Vibrant Shore Brewing on 18th Street by 8pm on 11/30/24. A winner will be announced by Dec 3rd on ViBe’s social media pages.

For the 3rd year in a row the OnieTonie Small Business Saturday Pop-Up Shop will be back in the Hearth parking lot on Saturday November 30th, 9am to 3pm on the corner of 17th St & Mediterranean Ave. This pop-up will be one of the many things going on in the ViBe Creative Districts Small Business Saturday event.

Visitors can find free parking in the ViBe Creative District on 18th St and 19th St or overflow parking at the nearby Virginia Beach Convention Center. Guests can also seek out the strolling Santa sponsored by Zeros’ Subs Oceanfront wandering the district between 11am and 1pm.
